What Is AI Image Layer Separation?
AI image layer separation is the process of analyzing a flattened image and splitting its visible elements into separate files with transparent backgrounds.
A flat image normally combines everything into one raster file: the background, product, copy, decorations, shadows, and other details are all merged together. Once a design has been exported as a JPEG or PNG, editing one part without affecting the rest can be difficult and time-consuming.
Magic Layers uses AI to infer the structure of an image directly from its pixels. It detects meaningful visual elements and outputs them as independent transparent PNG layers. These layers can then be moved, resized, masked, replaced, or combined with new assets.
This does not restore the original Photoshop, Figma, Illustrator, or Canva project file. Instead, it provides a practical way to recover the visible components of a flattened image and turn them into reusable creative assets.
How Magic Layers Works
Magic Layers makes image layer extraction simple in three steps.
1. Upload Your Image
Upload one PNG or JPEG file, up to 30 MB. Images must be at least 512 × 512 pixels. The tool is designed for common creative assets such as posters, advertisements, thumbnails, screenshots, product images, and illustrations.
2. Choose Your Layer Depth
Select the number of layers you want to receive. Magic Layers supports between 2 and 12 layers per job, including the base image.
A lower layer count works well for simple visuals with only a background, subject, and text. A higher layer count is useful for detailed compositions with products, badges, multiple text areas, decorations, and separate foreground elements.
3. Review and Download Your Layers
After processing, Magic Layers provides a base image and separate transparent PNG layers for the elements it finds. Every layer is named and described, helping you quickly identify the background, product, headline, decorative shape, or other visual component.
You can review the detected placement of every layer in the original image, then download only the files you need.
